Colombia is addressing deforestation through cattle control.

Colombia, the country with one of the highest rates of deforestation, removed

over 400,000 acres of trees in 2021. Colombia is desperate to curb the growing number of trees being cut down.

And the first step will be to trace the origin of cattle. Which is exactly what Colombia is doing.

By tracing back cattle and the meat industry, Colombia will be making sure no meat comes from cleared land. With 80% of the meat in supermarkets being untraceable, this is certain to curb the amount of deforestation in Colombia.

Meme of the week.

Greece declares solar-hydrogen project with batteries, its first flagship investment.

Hive Energy (a U.K-based energy company) has allocated 226.4 million euros for the construction of a green hydrogen plant. It will comprise of 200 MW solar PV capacity and 100 MW energy storage to power a 50 MW electrolyzer to produce 16 tons of green hydrogen a day. The government has awarded it the status of a flagship investment of extreme importance, the first in the country.

The Greek Interministerial Committee of Strategic Investments has approved the application for the Bluesky300 project, which combines solar power with battery storage. The panel declared it the nation's first flagship investment of extreme importance.

Since this project is valued at extreme importance it will mean it will be put on a fast track when it comes to permits, in addition to the prestige that can pave the way for funding. The committee is also responsible for projects submitted to the state agency Enterprise Greece.
